Changing our name is the last thing we thought we would be doing nine months into this journey. This decision was in part to boring business stuff like SEO and domain equity but also the more interesting cultural implications of using this name.

So, just like the Earthseed that Butler created in her book, we’re changing too.
After a lot of conversations, voting, tears and heartache, we are saying goodbye to Earthseed and are proud to introduce Terraseed.

Terra is the Latin word for Earth so in that regard, it seems like a quick and easy switch but our reasons for choosing Terraseed went much deeper.

Terra, dünya, aarde, erda, they all mean the same thing- soil, or dirt. Where every other planet in our solar system was named after Greek and Roman gods, ‘dirt planet’ might seem like a ripoff. But when you think about it, especially in regards to veganism and how we live, dirt is beautiful. Our soil is our life force and strength.  Choosing a plant-based diet protects our soil which helps our Earth; our Terra. The truth is, we are just getting started. If you are reading this email, you are on the ground level of something very special. It is our hope that Terraseed and everything this community stands for will continue to grow into an inclusive, global brand, united in protecting this Terra and all the beings on it.
